The short of it
Sky’s VR app leaves the competition in the dust. The best of sports and entertainment delivered to you in glorious virtual reality.
Why do I care?
Content is King. Sky already has the best in TV and film, so naturally they’ve upped their game with their first VR app.
So how does it work?
You’ll need a smartphone and a Google Cardboard headset, which you can pick up for as little as £5. It also plays well with Samsung Gear VR, our favourite entry-level headset.
Load up the free Sky VR app, place it in your headset and you’re good to go.
OK, so what I can watch?
Sport, film, news and more.
Highlights include a 360° documentary of David Beckham’s life, pitch-side view Chelsea v Manchester United and an epic boxing match that puts you at the heart of the action.
Must see?
Suicide Squad 360. Transport into the world of Suicide Squad and experience what it’s like being a member of the Squad as you watch your favourite characters in an action-packed scene from the film.
Don’t miss the behind the scenes director’s cut at the end of the clip.
What’s the downside?
When shots move fast, VR can make you sick. Don’t be afraid to give yourself a few minutes rest in between watching clips.
So how much is this going to cost me?
Nothing.
Sky VR is free to download and for now all content is free to view.
Our take
VR has finally come of age.
Sky will continue to add more great content, we just hope the nausea will one day we overcome.
This app puts you at the heart of the action. Try it, you won’t be disappointed.
