The short of it
Petzi is a pet camera and treat dispenser.
Naturally, it’s connected to the internet.
If you love your pets like we do, this one’s a winner.
Bothered?
It’s hard to balance your busy life with looking after a pet.
Petzi lets you check in and keep your favourite friend fed and happy, no matter where you are. Perfect for anxious pets.
Party trick?
The device looks a bit like a burglar alarm with a camera. Using Petzi’s app you can talk (yes talk) to your furry friend with your smartphone while watching them and giving out treats.
The design is so inconspicuous that it also doubles as a brilliant way to prank your housemates when they keep hearing voices from the kitchen. That joke never gets old.
What else?
You can share pictures taken with the camera on Petzi’s built-in social network. Think of it as a niche take on Instagram.
What’s wrong with it?
We found the Petzi’s social network a little too “niche” for our taste. “Likes” are called “Awwws”.
Each to their own.
And?
The treat dispenser is a great feature. But in our tests it fired the treats so hard it scared the living bejesus out of our cat.
Dogs may find the experience less alarming.
How much is this going to cost me?
Not cheap, but we do love our pets.
Petzi will cost you £135 on Amazon UK.
Our take
Do you need Petzi? Probably not.
Will you secretly love it? Yes.
