Who’s behind it?

UBM, the London-based publishing and events giant. London Technology Week also gets public support from national and local government and Tech London Advocates.

Do I need to be there?

If you work in tech, or want to – you need to be there.

The word “work” is key here – this is a series of networking and business events. This isn’t an opportunity to take the family out for a day to try out virtual reality headsets.

Where are all the events?

Literally in every corner of the city. Plan your diary carefully to get the most of out of it.

Who’s there?

Lots of big brands. Google, Amazon, the works.

Ford’s putting on one of the headline events, where they’ll explain their transformation from a car company to what they describe as a “mobility company”.

The good?

London Technology Week gets a lot of attention from outside the UK. If you’re looking for investment or new partnerships, this is the place to get business done.

And the bad?

The quality of events can vary massively. Just like the Edinburgh Fringe, most are independently run but sit under the banner of Tech Week.

Most are genuinely worthwhile. But some are little more than a sales pitch with free networking drinks attached.

Look through the listings with caution, make smart choices and don’t be afraid to bail and move on to another event.

Which events do I need to be at?

The coolest things happen behind closed doors and might not be found on the official listings. Don’t be afraid to ask around.

If you can get in, The Digital Masters Awards is well worth attending. Last year’s event had all the right people inside the Freemason’s Hall.
