From Annette King to Federico Bolza and Tracy De Groose, these smart people seem to get an incredible amount done, in an impossibly short space of time.

This morning we’re talking to Jim Cregan, one half of the brother-sister duo behind Jimmy’s Iced Coffee, the up-and-coming brand that’s already bringing in millions of pounds of revenue.

The brand has had a meteoric rise thanks to a cult following and some savvy social media marketing. Jimmy’s Iced Coffee has grown rapidly and can now be found in Waitrose, Tesco, Whole Foods and more across Britain.

Cregan is undoubtedly a productivity guru.

A busy man, with big ideas, The Memo asked him how he gets it all done…

What time do you get up, and what part of your morning routine sets you up for the day?

I’m up when the kids are up.

They totally set me up for the day. Wyn, my one year old daughter decides whether I’ll be a peaceful rise and shine or a hell raiser. Typically, it’ll be a hell raiser with a nappy packed with nutrients that needs sorting, asap.

I would go for a run and I did for a time which was ace but I’ve become increasingly lazy and time poor. What a useless excuse.

What apps do you use to be more productive?

Wunderlist is ace. We’ve used it to project manage the conversion of our iced coffee van. There are many parties involved in the process, so it’s ace that we can all sing off the same digital hymn sheet.

Office Lens is pretty rad too as it allows you to turn documents into PDFs in seconds, saving you from printing, signing, scanning, falling asleep and emailing.

What smartphone do you have?

I’ve got an iPhone 6 plus with 64GB .

It’s a banger and I’ve got to have a silicon case on it otherwise I keep dropping them.

I’ve smashed two in the last two months, once flying off my pals handlebars at 3am after way too many beers and then recently just slamming it in the van door. Congratulations.

How many people, outside of family, do you meet in a day?

“Who are these people!”.

Working life is very varied, sometimes I won’t meet anyone really, but then I might do a talk and meet over 150 in one day.

So it’s a tough one, but meeting people and learning new things have been the best things about starting Jimmy’s.

And the fact I get to drink the most badass Iced Coffee on the planet, for free.

What book have you read, either recently or in the past, that has inspired you?

An Island to Oneself is insane. It’s about this dude who lived in the South Pacific for a period of 7 years, completely alone and it’s a fascinating insight into the mind when you are in solitude for such a long time.

What advice would you give for people who are eager to get into your industry?

Don’t do it unless you are a complete mental optimist that doesn’t mind no sleep and no mates for about 4 years.

When do you work until? Are you still sending emails in the night? Or do you have a wind down routine?

In the early days, I took my laptop home every night and would work like mad.

Now my iPhone 6 Plus screen is the size of a plasma screen, I can work from my phone. Since having kids, I’ve tried to get home for 6pm for bath time which is super important.

I’m going to try and buy some more time to get fit and do fun stuff too. That’s when I ring mum for babysitting duties. Happy days.

Come back next Thursday for our next #BossItLike interview, and get in touch if you know a leader who’s also a productivity guru for us to talk to.
